Year 2009 saw many "big and anticipated releases" and at the same time heavy earnings for video game manufacturers as gamers tagged many games as "amazing" or simply "AWWWSSSOOMMEE" .
Games namely” Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2", "Assassin's creed 2", "Uncharted 2","Left for Dead 2","Batman: Arkham assilum " ,"Demon's Souls", "SIMS3", "Halo" took the console gaming to a whole new level and fans just got crazy.
Although the fight between PS3 and Xbox 360 got "hotter and hotter" at various online platforms , but games notable Call of Duty:MW2, Assassin's creed 2,Left for Dead 2, New Super Mario Bros, were played on both the platforms with as much praise and excitement. MW2 also won the "GAME OF THE YEAR 2009" at much respected Spike Video awards. Manufacturers had the uphill challenge to cater fans with best of graphics, game play and ever growing need of "multi player" need for some games.
And BOY, did n't they do well?
Year 2009 saw the release of PS3 slim, a sleeker and lighter version of its gaming cousin PS3 along with release of Nintendo DSi in its "home market" Japan.
A much controversial story of 2009 came from Australia where Aliens vs Predator, the game was banned due to extreme "graphic violence" as the developer of the game refused to "sanitize" it for a local release. The review board finding the game "okay for the release because it is a sci fi", overturned the ban as a "surprising move" for many.
In November 2009 Xbox 360 reached into its four years in USA .
By the end of the year Avatar, the movie became only the fifth film in history to reach the "one billion dollar mark", after Titanic, "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” and "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and The Dark Knight.
